As much as I love to travel and visit my family and friends, I always miss my two doggies Dot and Lia. Fortunately, there are pets at many of the places I visit. Here are a few pictures of the pets I spent time with while in Canada in September.

Brandy, a Golden Labrador/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. A real sweetheart.

Come on, throw the ball.

Mandy the Newfoundland dog. A big cuddly teddy bear.

Roni, another of my granddaughter’s pets. Those eyes!

And there are many cats as well. This is Earl Grey. The coolest cat ever and I love his name.

We can’t forget the goats. Did I mention my granddaughter loves animals? I didn’t get pictures of all of them either.

Beelzebub, my grandson’s newly acquired pet who seems very happy with his new home.

Lola, my son’s family pug. Another cutie.

Willow, an Australian Shepherd. A special dog for a special girl in Vancouver.

Well, not really a pet, but my great granddaughter’s badger Halloween costume.

How about an awesome cake that looks like a pet?

So you can see I had many pets to keep me company until I came home to these two.

I missed my two fur babies while I was away, but they were safe at home with hubby. Fortunately, everywhere I went, pets were available to cuddle, play with and walk. My granddaughter has a menagerie of animals at her place. Here’s a few pictures of the pets I spent time with.

My granddaughter has started a new venture and I am so proud of her. She has always loved animals and has worked with pets for some time now, most recently managing a boarding kennel and volunteering at a shelter. She has purchased, along with her husband, a chunk of property outside of Medicine Hat, Alberta and opened her own boarding kennel called Aunty’s Place Pet Boarding. I can assure you those pets will get so much care, attention and love. I was happy to spend some time with her during my recent visit. She had just opened for business and was already busy. She is working hard and I know she will do well.

Animals instinctively know this is a safe place. Recently a stray mother cat appeared on the doorstep with seven little ones in tow. They were fed of course and homes were found for them.

Through hard work and perseverance, my granddaughter’s dream has come true. I couldn’t be more proud of her and her family. The property is near where I grew up and, get this, my great-granddaughter is now attending the same school I did!

Check out the facebook page and like it. Be warned, cuteness alert. She posts pictures of her adorable guests.

Sometimes it is the little, unexpected things we find when we travel that make the trip memorable. In Valetta, the capital of Malta, we found a Cat Cafe.

Shelter and food for homeless cats in Malta

They seem to look after their cats well in Malta. We saw stray cats wandering around but they all looked healthy and well fed.

While wandering the streets of the cities and towns of Malta, we were intrigued by the unique door knockers on the colourful doors.

It’s good to get off the beaten track and check out the side streets, you never know what you’ll find.
