Thursday Doors, Pai ll

Posted on: February 6, 2025

I featured the Thai mountain village Pai here, and have more pictures I’d like to share. Not all of these pictures have doors, but they will give you an idea of this interesting place.

We stayed in an adorable place right downtown, set in lovely gardens.

The path to our rooms

The grounds with lush gardens

The door to my room, with a lovely seating area outside. A perfect place to have a cup of tea and write in my journal.

We enjoyed walking the night market.

No, I didn’t get a tattoo.

Taking the produce to market on a scooter

Three people on a scooter going past the temple

Lanterns lit up the streets

And the gardens

An interesting water wheel by the river

A basket for a garbage receptacle. Note the doors on the red pickup.

This is a weekly challenge created by Dan Antion for people who love doors and architecture to come together to admire and share their favourite door photos, drawings, or other images or stories from around the world. Fascinating, as always, Darlene. And great photos 😊

Darlene, thanks for this splendid tour! Hugs.

Glad you liked it! Hope your day is going well. Hugs!!

Thanks for sharing the lovely photos, Darlene. I always enjoy seeing more of the area, and the gardens and lanterns are delightful. My favorite photo is the one of the colorful lights hung above. I did notice the red pickup. It reminds me of one that I had for about ten years. I hope you have a great weekend.

I’m pleased you liked the photos. The lanterns made it all so festive and fun. My Dad’s last truck was a red Ford pickup. He loved that truck. When he could no longer drive, he had to sell it. My son said, “Grandpa, you must be so sad to sell your truck.” He said, “That’s what you get for gettin’ old.” I think of him every time I see a red pickup.

Aww, that’s a great memory. Our daughter learned to drive in my Dodge pickup. Last year, she bought a Chevy pickup for herself. There’s just something about a truck.

A lush and colorful country.

It is, and full of happy smiling people.

I enjoyed seeing the colorful culture of this village. Thank you!

Thanks, Marian. It was a fun place.

What marvelous photos! My favorite was the water wheel. My eyes are not good enough to see anything different about the doors on the red truck. All the beautiful lanterns struck my fancy, too.

Thanks, Anne. They are just regular truck doors, I wanted everyone to know that I snuck doors into that picture of the garbage basket. LOL The lanterns were so cheerful.

Whew! I’m thrilled I didn’t miss something important.

A marvelous gallery of photos, Darlene!

Beautiful sights. You are so adventurous. Now I know where Amanda gets it.

Thanks, Jacqui. I’m not quite as nosey as Amanda and I try to stay out of trouble.

Oh, my. Simply wonderful!

Thanks, Jane. It was.

Terrific doors, Darlene. Such beautiful photos too.

It feels like a dream now as it was a year ago. So glad I went.

Yes. Me too.Love the photos

Really interesting photos, Darlene.

It was a very interesting place.

The water wheel is intriguing. I’d love to see it. All of these photos are fabulous! Thanks for sharing, Darlene!

I’m pleased you enjoyed the photos, Jan.

I felt the energy of the streets and the quiet tranquility of the gardens, Darlene. Beautiful post.

Thanks, Rebecca. It was a unique place. My sister-in-law had lived there when she was younger and was so at home. She knew many people too and would visit while my brother and I explored.

Terrific photos all and what a trip! I love going to other countries to soak up their culture and eat their local cuisine…thank you for taking us along!

Me too. I really must do a food post about this trip. Glad you enjoyed the photos.

The place you stayed looks serene, Darlene. And I noticed the door on the truck Lol. Thanks for sharing your photos, my friend.

It was perfect and very relaxing. I didn’t want to leave. Glad you enjoyed the photos. xo

These really are lovely photographs, Darlene. This place looks similar, withwith regard to foliage, to Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa. Very green and lush.

I thought you would like these pictures, Robbie.

How did you know I was going to ask if you got a tattoo? I particularly like the lanterns and the water wheel.

That waterwheel was interesting and I loved the lanterns all over! A small elephant tattoo might have been nice but I settled for a necklace instead!

It feels warm and atmospheric, Darlene.

It was the perfect temp, mid to high twenties. I loved the atmosphere.

A charming place! If it wasn’t for your photos and descriptions, I wouldn’t have known of its existence. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, Debra. Glad to introduce you to a new place. xo

Those are great photos. I would like to visit Thailand one day.

Thanks, Thomas. You would love it.

I love the charming glimpses of Pai you’ve shared here, Darlene. The blend of vibrant gardens, bustling markets, and unique local sights is stunning.

Thanks, Donna. You summed it up well.

So gorgeous, Darlene 🙂 Love those lanterns xo

Thanks, Denise. I thought those lanterns would be popular.

Learning through your lens Darlene…lovely.😍

Looks like a lovely spot to stay. Love the garden and colourful lanterns on the streets.

It was perfect! I loved my little room and the gardens. There was also a pool. I dangled my feet in it after a long day of walking.

Beautiful images…do you think you will return to Thailand, Darlene ? x

One never knows! I did love it and enjoyed seeing my brother and meeting his Thai family.

I love these pictures, Darlene! That roadside garbage bin has to be the coolest thing ever! And I’m still laughing about the tattoo. Thanks for sharing!

I’m so pleased you liked the pictures. I loved that garbage bin too. As for the tattoo, maybe next time!

Darlene, I so enjoyed these photos!

I’m having fun reliving this experience through my photos.

Your photos are a “doorway” to a land I’ve never traveled. And oh how I’d like to visit there sometime, but it’s unlikely, so I can visit it vicariously through your posts. Thank you!

I don’t imagine I would have got there except that my brother lives there. Lucky me that he does. You can come with me vicariously any time!

Thanks for the invite! 🙂 My brother just lives in Maryland, and I visit him there but somehow not the same as Thailand. ;-0

Thank you very much for sharing. Love all of the doors and even the shots without doors!! Well done!!

Thanks, Kirt. Happy to share this great memories.

These are amazing pictures, Darlene. Your hotel in the garden is amazing and I loved the peak into your room.

Thanks, Carla. It was such a great place and I loved my room!
