Travel Challenge -Day 3

Posted on: January 14, 2021

The photo for day 2 was from Barcelona. It is one of Gaudi’s creations, Casa Batllo, which Andrew guessed. Some of you guessed Spain, which was great! Barcelona is my favourite city and I love spending time there. I’ve written about it a few times. Here are a couple of posts featuring Casa Batllo and other Gaudi buildings

I was nominated by my blogging friend Geoff LePard at TanGental to post one favourite travel picture a day for ten days without explanation, then to nominate someone else to participate. That’s 10 days, 10 travel pictures, and 10 nominations. It doesn´t have to be 10 consecutive days. Thanks, Geoff!

I nominate Robbie Cheadle at Robbies Inspiration. Robbie is a South African writer who also creates the most amazing cakes. She has written a wide variety of books including a series she wrote with her son and a book she co-wrote with her mother.

If I nominate you and you don’t want to participate, please do not feel obliged, but if you do, please link back to me so that I can see your post. In these times vicarious travel is a great escape, I would love to see what you choose to post.

This is my picture for day 3. If you want to guess where this is, leave your answer in the comments.

It’s somewhere in the world! Am I close?

LOL! You are right. It’s not on the moon.

No idea, but it is a cool looking structure.

It has a very interesting history as well.

I’m still in awe of the wonder of Barcelona and the cultural and architectural impact of Gaudi, which will brighten that city forever!

Every time I go to Barcelona (it’s only a 5 hour train ride from where I live) I discover something new in Barcelona. Gaudi is everywhere.

Well, and you said the magic words: “train ride.” What an incredible adventure by train – and we only scratched the surface of that city and Gaudi as well…thanks for commenting!

I’ve done a lot of traveling but this photo doesn’t look familiar to me. Sorry.

I know you have done a lot of travelling. It will be revealed in the next post.xo

Looks like Clifford’s Tower in York to me.

Once again you got it my friend!

Is it York Castle?

Its in York, I´ve always known it as Clifford´s Tower but it was probably part of the castle at one time.

I went there many years ago, and had forgotten the name. To me, it’s the York Castle Keep! I was born in Dover so had an interest in castles from an early age.

I am awful at this guessing stuff. I just don’t travel enough. But I like the picture–its strength, rigor. Nice.

I love it too. I even wrote a story about it. It has a lot of history, some quite sad.

Just a tad south of Scotland. Close.

To me it looks a bit like York Castle…but not completely. That’s as close as I can get.

It is in York, well done. Clifford´s Tower.

Hi Darlene, thank you for the nomination. This look like a castle in the UK somewhere, maybe York?

York is correct. My favourite British city.

Looks very Norman. France?

It is Norman but not in France. 😁😁

Lovely photo, Darlene and Barcelona is a place I long to visit! This reminds me of Clifford’s Tower, York which was built in Norman times!

And you would be right!

As someone who is looking forward to retirement to begin my travels, I have no idea where this is. It’s fun to read the comments though. It looks like there are some good guesses coming in. 🙂 A fun post, Darlene.

It has been fun to pull out my favorite photos. You would love this place!

I’ve been to York and I’m pretty sure I have a photo of this tower because of its relevance to my husband’s name. Clifford’s Tower has my vote as there seems to be some echoes of that by previous commenters.

We’ll see!

And you would be right! Your husband has a tower named after him!!

York, the tower whose name I forget. We have been to York a few times and definitely walked all parts of the wall.

I love walking the walls of York! This is an iconic tower with a turbulent history.

My eyes admire all castle photos, whether grand or in ruin.

Sometimes the ruins are the most magical!

Reminds me of Stone Hedge. But, it looks like the remains of a castle in England. Haven’t a clue. 🙂 But, it’s a nice shot!

It’s the Norman Castle keep in York, England called Clifford’s Tower. It is steeped in history, some not pleasant.

This photo conveys that king of the hill feeling.

I know or what about the nursery rhyme, “The Grand Old Duke of York”

Love our time visiting and seeing Gaudi’s creations. Easy flight from Halifax to Europe..not now though.

Gaudi is amazing. Every time I go to Barcelona, I discover another of his creations. I’ve also been to his birthplace. Thanks for following my blog!

Traveling is my joy of life..love exploring our world and reading about bloggers travels. Thanks Darlene.

I am loving your photo challenge! This looks like a fortress or part of a castle, probably in England.

I’m glad you are enjoying this travel challenge. it is Clifford’s Tower in York, England.

I really am, Darlene. 🙂

I love the structure, it reminds me of where my last husband work😊🙏

Your husband worked in an old castle? That´s wonderful. Where was it?

Yes so wonderful and it was in Berlin so long time ago, before I loss him …..

Let me share some of our memories with you, please send me a private message… God bless you
