Hello Dreamers

Posted on: June 20, 2020

Happy blog anniversary! My blog is ten years old today, can you believe it. I seem to have learned a few things in ten years and gained some new followers, so I’ve updated my first post and thought I would share it since many of you would not have seen it. Thank you to all of you who have faithfully followed me over the years!

Welcome to my new blog. This blog is for writers, readers, travelers, dreamers and interesting people of all ages.I hope you enjoy my blog, and I welcome all comments, suggestions and ideas.

Here is my first post.

June was a month for some of my dreams to become reality.  For many years I have wanted to go up in a Hot Air Balloon.  On June 5, 2010, that dream was realized.  My dear hubby surprised me with a gift of a Hot Air Balloon ride for my birthday. It took us three tries, but eventually the weather was perfect and I was able to ascend in the balloon.

Filling the balloon with hot air

Ready to go and so excited

Then we were off

The trip was amazing. We floated over farms, forests and fieldswith Mount Baker, Washington in clear view. There…

Happy 10th Blog Anniversary, Darlene. Thank you for sharing these beginnings — and these dreams — with us. I’m very happy to be following!

Thanks! I’m happy to have you as a follower!

You have floated high as a blogger and book author. The hot air balloon is a great metaphor for your last ten years. WOW!

When I saw the title, I remembered a top news story in the USA yesterday: The Supreme Court approved the continuation of DACA: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a United States immigration policy that allows some individuals with unlawful presence in the United States after being brought to the country as children to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and become eligible for a work permit.

These children are often called dreamers, I suppose because they can remain here and pursue the American Dream.

Congratulations on your blog anniversary and for your inspiration to other authors, including me! 🙂

Thanks, Marian for pointing out the metaphor. Little did I think ten tears ago, I would have a number of books published and be living in Spain!! Thanks for sharing the good news about the children being able to stay and become eligible for a work permit. That makes me happy to hear.

Happy anniversary to you and your blog. I wish you more beautiful years and experiences.

Thank you, very much.

Happy Anniversary! 10 years ago you lifted off and have been flying high ever since!

Thanks, John. I never thought of it that way but I love it!

Hot air ballooning is on my bucket list!!

You will love it, Susie!! Throw out some hints!!

Congratulations on your wonderful blog and being a true friend in the blogging community

I have made so many amazing friends through blogging. Thanks for being one of them, Jacqui.

Wow! I’ve always thought about trying this, but it will really take some will power to overcome my fear of heights.

It was funny, but I didn’t feel any fear at all. Now you would never get me to do mountain climbing!

Congratulations! Ten years is a long time!! I enjoyed your first post and look forward to many more.

Thanks, Anne. It is a long time and so much has happened in that time. Much of it recorded on my blog. So happy to have you along.

Happy 10th Blog Anniversary. You certainly have spread your wings and journeyed around the world and shared such delightful posts with all of us. I always drool over your pictures! And, I’ve enjoyed watching you blossom as an author. Look forward to another 10 years of posts and books!

Thanks, Patricia. I appreciate the support over the years.

Congratulations to your 10th Blogging Anniversary, Darlene! Heading over to read your first post.

Thanks, Miriam!!

You’re welcome, Darlene!!

Happy aniversary.

Thanks, Andrew. Where does the time go??

Wow! Darlene – what a fabulous achievement! I had no idea what I was doing when I started my blog in 2009 and I was simply publishing this weird love story, chapter by chapter every other week. Who would have thought it would lead to Michelle and 4 novels!

While I might not always comment, I see you updates and I enjoy reading them.

Congratulations! xxx

It was Michelle that encouraged me to start a blog. So glad she did. It is impossible to comment every time!! I know you are there though. What a great ten years you and I have had. xo

Happy 10th Anniversary Darlene. How time flies. I’m heading over to read your post now. I’ve just passed my sixth anniversary so got some catching up to do!

I know, where does the time go??

Congratulations! Good job :)! I wish you happy blogging for next years! Bye. K

Happy 10th anniversary to you and your blog. That first post looks great. So nice to have ‘met’ you through blogging 🙂

Thanks, Anne. I gave it a facelift! So glad to have met you as well.

Of course I have reread the original and commented there. I was there at the beginning and have loved every post of your decade.

Yes, you were! One of my first followers. Thanks so much for sticking with me all these years. xo

Happy anniversary! And what a great birthday present! I’ve thought about hot air ballooning now and then, but am still working up the courage.

It was just the best present ever! I am afraid of many things but this was not scary at all. More romantic. We drove out to Langley three times, only to find the ride cancelled due to not quite the right weather. So safety is very important to balloonists. I hope you try it once. It would be a great scene in a book! Call it research.

Thanks, Darlene. Maybe I will!

Happy blogiversary, Darlene! I’ve always wanted to try a hot air balloon- so fun 🙂

You would love it!! Thanks for the good wishes, Jacquie!

Ten years of blogging–impressive! When we lived in Saskatoon I would see hot air balloons and wanted to go up. Somehow we never managed it, but I did write a ballooning scene in one of my novels. Wishing you another great decade of blogging!

I know, who would have thought I would be blogging all these years. Hot air balloons would float over our house in Calgary and I dreamt of being on one. It was after we moved to Vancouver that my dream came true. And it was perfect! I haven´t put a scene in a book yet. Thanks for the good wishes, Audrey.
